Asia Pacific College (APC), in collaboration with the National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) and Geodata Systems Technologies, Inc., contributed to ensuring transparency during the 2025 midterm elections through the NAMFREL-APC Election Analytics Initiative.
Through Project-Based Learning (PBL), students from the School of Computing and Information Technologies (SoCIT) played a crucial role in APC’s efforts to promote transparent and accountable elections.
Third year BS Information Technology and BS Computer Science students worked under faculty supervision, in coordination with the NAMFREL Systems Group, to process election results coming from the NAMFREL server and contribute to NAMFREL’s nationwide monitoring of the 2025 midterm elections.
Student teams were organized into five core areas: Dashboard, Machine Learning, Infrastructure, Quality Assurance, and Cybersecurity. The teams worked on data analysis, system development, and visualization tasks, while faculty mentors provided oversight and technical guidance to ensure quality output across all phases.

Meanwhile, BS Tourism Management student volunteers from the School of Management (SoM) supported the initiative through ushering and logistical assistance during key events.
Despite the challenges—including a tight one-month preparation period, limited experience with the visualization tool among students newly enrolled in analytics, restricted customization capabilities due to cost issues, and tool limitations in handling large datasets—the APC team delivered a commendable overall system performance.
In addition, students had to overcome a steep learning curve in understanding the election domain. They were tasked with grasping complex topics such as voter behavior, transmission data, and electoral processes—many of which were entirely new to them, especially as most were only first- or second-time voters.
Yet, throughout the project, they remained proactive, continuously monitoring developments and refining their insights—demonstrating adaptability, initiative, and the true spirit of project-based learning.
Through this collaboration, APC demonstrated its core values of innovation, integrity, and industry by leveraging technology to promote electoral transparency, ensuring honest and accurate data management, and engaging students in meaningful, real-world applications of their skills—reinforcing its mission of civic engagement and contribution to nation-building.
