Asia Pacific College’s Circle of Engineering Quizzers (APC-CEQ) won as 2nd runner-up in the Regional Inter-University Electronics Engineering Quiz Bowl of 2018.

Varsity team members from Asia Pacific College’s School of Engineering (SoE) included Samuel Candava, Demetrio Olarte, Gher Christian Mojica, Cyrille John Sili, Andrea Louise Fajardo, and Raisa Nasara. Engr. Leonardo A. Samaniego Jr. and Engr. Sandy Lauguico both served as their coaches. They were also assisted by Jerome Guemo.

“This has been a big dream for us alumni quizzers,” Engr. Lauguico said. Olarte explained that after three years of participating, they finally enjoyed the fruit of their labor. “Bringing Team Asia Pacific College to the National IECEP Interscholastic Quiz Bowl is a dream come true for all of us,” Engr. Samaniego said.

The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) spearheaded the competition which took place in the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Manila last September 28, 2018. “Umarapaw: Lawak ng Karunungan, Tagisan ng Kaisipan” was the theme of the event.

Eighteen aspiring universities joined, but only four dominated the competition. Along with the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) Manila, Bulacan State University (BSU), and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) who became the Champion, 1st runner-up, and 3rd runner-up respectively, Asia Pacific College competed in the National Quiz Bee last November 2018.
